What veterinarian or veterinary practice to choose for a beloved pet is a major life decision. In fact, it can be agonizing. Many individuals spend more time and effort on their pet's health than their own!
When you consider the decision of a traditional, stationary vet practice versus a mobile vet, you can see some pros and cons to each. A traditional vet has the advantage of a physical building that can house any amount of equipment, medications, and staff. The sheer size of the place can be an advantage.
A mobile vet comes to you and is limited to what they can carry in their vehicle. At the outset, this seems like a major sacrifice, but is it, really?
In a word, no.
When you consider what you "give up" with a traveling vet versus what you gain, it's a pretty lopsided equation.
By coming to your home, a traveling veterinarian dramatically reduces or even eliminates the most stressful part of treatment, for both pet and owner. Not only is everyone in a better mood, but you've also saved the time driving to the clinic. And, in the case of some older dogs, you no longer have to worry about lifting them into the back of the car.
The resources a mobile vet clinic can offer, while not as vast as a brick and mortar clinic, are certainly above adequate. In short, if your pet is sick or injured enough that a mobile vet isn't able to handle the situation, you wouldn't be waiting around for them to arrive. You'd be at an animal hospital!
When you add that all up, and factor in costs being very similar, it seems like a pretty easy decision, doesn't it?
