Lincoln Vaillancourt is a 3-year-old French Bulldog with big eyes, big ears, and an even bigger smile. He and his sister Stella were some of our first concierge clients and certainly the bravest.
Lincoln first joined his family on February 10th, 2019, when he was just 8 weeks old. His parents already had his sister Stella and while there may have been some jealousy initially, the two became pals quickly.
About two years later, Lincoln was diagnosed with a condition known as hindlimb paralysis, a side effect of Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD).
"It happened very suddenly. We thought he had a seizure, he screamed, and fell over" says his mother Heidi. "I picked him up trying to figure out what was going on while on the phone with BEVs. When I put him down to get myself out the door he tried running to his bed. Unfortunately, his hind legs were no longer working and never did again. He was diagnosed with IVDD and sent to Massachusetts for surgery that very night."
Lincoln now has a wheelchair that supports his back end and allows him to get around. Heidi tells us that "Lincoln adjusted to his wheelchair right off. He had to be crated for a month so I think he just wanted to get out and play with Stella and it didn't matter how he had to do it. Dogs are amazingly resilient."
Thanks to the support of his family and his wheelchair, Lincoln is an incredibly happy pup! He loves going for walks and is a big fan of fetch, especially with a frisbee. He's a big eater and his favorite food would be chicken or turkey. "We have always called him chunky buns. And still do even though it looks like he missed leg day at the gym now" Heidi jokes.
Lincoln is happy, hungry, and ready for Halloween! He and his sister will be dressed as a duo this year. Lincoln will be a very cute UPS truck and Stella will be his even cuter driver.
